12:00 AM @hindkhoudary On June 28th, I usually just grow a year older, but this year I feel like I’ve aged a hundred years.
When I blew out my 28th birthday candles, I never imagined this would be how my year would unfold.
I’ve lost many friends, family members, and colleagues.
Loss, grief, and bravery defined my year.
My father’s house, built with love and passion and the only thing left to us after his death, was bombed by Israel.
I lost all the places I cherished in Gaza.
Being displaced from my home has been the hardest part.
I’ve been separated from my family for eight months, fighting to report to the world on my own.
It was indeed a tough year, one I learned a lot from.
But there’s no guarantee I’ll make it to next year as this genocide continues and journalists remain targets.
Despite the sadness, I had significant achievements. I started covering the war for Al Jazeera, which was my dream, though I never wished to achieve it during a genocide.
Additionally, I joined the World Food Programme’s team, working to deliver food to as many people as possible across the Gaza Strip.
I met new people who became essential to my life - friendships I can’t imagine living without.
This year, I became stronger than ever before.
I normally spend my birthday on the beach all day long with the people I love - this year i am spending it among airstrikes and death.
All I wish for now is a ceasefire and a very long vacation.
Love you all 🤍

My friends and I are united, working tirelessly to amplify oura voices for GA Z A cause, fighting against this blatant censorship. No matter how strong their online bullying is, our cause and our resolve are stronger. We will not give up, we will not forget, and we will not stop fighting until Palestine is free. Your support means everything to us in this struggle.
