“Three hours before the bombing of our house, I took Kareem with me to the market, and unfortunately, it was our last outing. We were exhausted from looking for brown lentils. I told him there was one last shop near the club. He told me, "I'll run and check; you wait for me at the club roundabout." The street was empty at that time. He called out to me from a distance, "I found it," and started running toward me. I watched him running and laughing, feeling happy that my son was growing up before my eyes. He brought me the lentils and said he found some cold Cola Club too.
"Dad, what do you think if we get some and put them in Grandpa's freezer until the afternoon?" I held his hand and said, "Let's go."

"قبل ثلاث ساعات من قصف منزلنا، اصطحبت كريم معي إلى السوق، ولسوء الحظ، كانت هذه آخر نزهة لنا. لقد استنفدنا البحث عن العدس البني. أخبرته أنه كان هناك متجر أخير بالقرب من النادي. قال لي: سأجري وأتفحص، انتظرني عند دوار النادي. وكان الشارع خاليا في ذلك الوقت. ناداني من بعيد: "لقد وجدته"، وبدأ يركض نحوي. شاهدته وهو يركض ويضحك، وأنا أشعر بالسعادة لأن ابني يكبر أمام عيني. أحضر لي العدس وقال إنه وجد بعض مشروب الكولا البارد أيضًا.
"أبي، ما رأيك لو أحضرنا بعضًا منها ووضعناها في ثلاجة جدي حتى فترة ما بعد الظهر؟" أمسكت بيده وقلت: هيا بنا.
