Diaa was saving his pocket money to buy the camera he had always dreamed of. In fact, he had managed to enroll in a photography course just a month before the war started, which had only intensified his passion and love for photography.
However, the harsh realities of the war in Gaza soon caught up with Diaa. One day, while he was sitting with his friends playing video games, a rocket struck the building, causing Diaa to lose both his arms. In that moment, his life was forever changed.
Despite this devastating tragedy, Diaa did not lose hope or give up. He remained determined to keep moving forward and fulfill his dreams, hoping to one day obtain prosthetic limbs that would allow him to return to his beloved hobby of photography.
Diaa’s story is one of thousands of stories in Gaza. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, over 10,000 children in Gaza lost their limbs during the genocide 9:10 PM @abdalhkem_abu_riash Diaa Al-Odaini is a 15-year-old boy living in Deir Al-Balah, Gaza. By @abdalhkem_abu_riash 2:01 PM @chalanhamza Today, I am celebrating my 28th birthday, and at the same time, I am also celebrating your safe recovery from the operating room, my dear father. I cannot express how happy I am that God has granted us your safety on this special day.
You have always been my companion and my first teacher throughout the years, and today, you return to us healthy and strong, which is the greatest gift I could ever receive on my birthday. You have taught many generations, instilling in them values, ethics, and knowledge, and today we see the fruits of what you have planted in your life. I am immensely proud of you, not just as a teacher of knowledge but as a teacher of life.
Today, I hold onto you more than ever. I pray to God to protect you and grant you a long life so that you remain our guiding light and a role model to follow. Thank God for your safety, and may this be the beginning of a new chapter filled with health, happiness, and peace.
All my love and respect to you, dearest of all.
