8:45 PM @awad.abusharkh Two Palestinian cameramen of Al-Jazeera TV, Fadi Al-Wahidi, 24 years old, and Ali Alattar, 27 years old, were targeted and critically injured by Israeli occupation forces while covering the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza. Despite their critical need for medical treatment, which is not available in Gaza’s limited or destroyed healthcare facilities, the Israeli occupation government has denied both journalists permission to travel abroad to receive the urgent care they require.
On October 7, 2024, Ali was wounded when an Israeli bombardment struck tents housing displaced Palestinians and journalists near Al Aqsa Hospital in Deir Al Balah. He sustained severe head injuries from shrapnel that remains embedded, causing chronic pain, difficulty moving, and impaired concentration. Two days later, on October 9, 2024, Fadi was directly targeted by Israeli forces, sustaining severe injuries that are likely to result in permanent paralysis if he does not receive immediate and appropriate medical treatment.
Despite urgent appeals, international organizations and foreign governments have yet to apply sufficient pressure on the Israeli authorities to permit Fadi and Ali to leave Gaza for medical care. As a result, both journalists remain confined to hospital beds in Gaza, enduring significant pain and suffering.
We urgently call on relevant authorities, human rights organizations, and the international community to intervene so that Fadi Al-Wahidi and Ali Alattar can access appropriate medical care outside Gaza without further delay. These journalists, who risked their lives to document the truth, now face life-altering injuries due to the Israeli war crimes they sought to expose.
